3-Day Desert Tour from Ouarzazate to Merzouga and Back
A 3-day desert adventure exploring Morocco’s most stunning landscapes, from the palm groves of Skoura to the golden dunes of Merzouga, through dramatic gorges and traditional Berber villages.
TOUR ITINERARY OVERVIEW
Day 1: Journey Through the Valleys – Ouarzazate to Dades Gorges
Your adventure begins with a morning departure from Ouarzazate, heading east toward the striking landscapes of southern Morocco. The first stop is Skoura, a lush palm oasis dotted with historic kasbahs. Here, you'll visit the beautifully preserved Kasbah Amridil, a prime example of traditional Berber architecture.
Continuing along the Valley of the Roses, you'll pass through Kelaat M’Gouna, a town famous for its Damascus roses and its annual rose festival. In spring, the valley bursts into color, with fragrant blossoms and small artisan workshops producing rose water and perfumes.
As the route climbs into the mountains, the landscape becomes increasingly rugged and dramatic. By late afternoon, you'll arrive in the stunning Dades Gorges, where striking rock formations and terraced fields line the riverbanks. After a peaceful walk to view the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations, you’ll settle in for the night in a traditional guesthouse.

From there, continue to Erfoud, a desert town known for its fossil-rich rocks and marble craftsmanship. You’ll have a chance to see how ancient marine fossils are transformed into beautiful decorative objects.
A brief drive takes you to Rissani, a historic town that once served as the capital of the Tafilalet kingdom. Today, it's a lively desert trading hub with a deep cultural heritage.
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at the edge of the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga. Here, your camel trek begins—a serene ride across golden sands at sunset, offering unforgettable desert views.
Upon reaching your desert camp, you’ll be welcomed with mint tea and enjoy a traditional Berber dinner. Spend the evening under the stars, listening to music by the campfire and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara.
