4-Day Erg Chigaga Desert Tour from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – Aït Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

Depart Marrakech and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass.

Stop for a guided visit to the UNESCO-listed ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most famous historical landmarks.

Continue through Ouarzazate and the Valley of the Roses, then arrive in the spectacular Dades Valley, known for its winding gorges and red rock formations.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Nkob – Zagora

After breakfast, travel off the tourist trail through the Anti-Atlas Mountains, passing through Nkob, a small Berber town famous for its kasbahs.

Rejoin the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river oasis, stretching through a sea of date palms and fortified villages. 

Arrive in Zagora, a desert gateway town once connected to Timbuktu by camel caravan.

Day 3: Zagora – M’Hamid – Erg Chigaga (Camel Trek & Camp)

Head south to the end of the road at M’Hamid, the last town before the open Sahara.

From here, travel by 4x4 across the desert plains to reach the towering Erg Chigaga dunes - one of the most remote and unspoiled parts of the Moroccan Sahara.

Enjoy a peaceful camel ride at sunset, then settle into your luxury desert camp.

Spend the evening under the stars, with traditional dinner, tea by the fire, and live Berber music.

Day 4: Erg Chigaga – Lake Iriqui – Foum Zguid – Marrakech

Wake early to witness sunrise over the dunes, then begin your journey back.

Cross the Iriqui dry lake and desert plateaus by 4x4 to reach Foum Zguid, then continue via Taznakht, known for its traditional Berber carpets.

Arrive back in Marrak
