Day 1: Fes → Ifran → Midelt → Merzouga (8 Hours Drive)
The journey begins with an early morning pick-up from the hotel or riad in Fes, typically around 07:00 AM in winter or 08:00 AM in summer to ensure ample driving time to catch the sunset in Erg Chebbi. The route crosses the plains of Saiss towards the Cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through the charming towns of Ifran and Azrou. Along the way, opportunities arise to spot Barbary apes on the side of the road and capture memorable photos. Lunch is typically enjoyed in Midelt. The journey continues through the scenic Ziz Valley, leading to Merzouga. Upon arrival, a sunset camel ride takes travelers to their desert camp, where dinner is served, and the night is spent under the vast, starry Sahara sky.
Day 2: Merzouga → Tinghir → Boumalne Dades
After an early sunrise camel ride back to Merzouga, travelers meet their guide. This day's drive features a continuous display of beautiful scenery, including the stunning oasis of Tinghir. Here, a walk along the Todgha riverbank allows for visits to Berber villages and an opportunity to learn about the lifestyle of the local inhabitants. The journey then continues to the impressive Todgha Gorges, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon" of Morocco. The overnight stay is in the picturesque Dades Valley at a lodge.
Day 3: Boumalne Dades → Skoura Oasis → Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech
Following breakfast, the drive proceeds along the Valley of the Roses to Kalaa Mgouna. There may be an optional visit to one of the Rosewater cooperatives to learn about the local preparation of rose-scented perfumes. The route continues along the famous Road of 1001 Kasbahs to the Skoura Oasis. A significant stop is made at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, renowned for its ancient ruins and historical significance, having served as a set for numerous films. Finally, the tour crosses the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N'tichka Pass on the way to Marrakech, where the journey concludes.
